Nucor Data Systems is hiring a Material Handler. The material handler will be Responsible for moving goods, loaded pallets, and equipment safely and securely. A material handler is required to drive a forklift and perform warehouse duties such as staging materials, consolidating and organizing inventory, packaging and/or assembling as needed.
Basic Job Functions:
- Safely stacking and unstacking large quantities of materials onto shelves or on pallets, racks, and/or carts
- Consolidate pallets and monitoring inventory levels by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages
- Operate forklifts to move materials to storage or shipping areas
- Daily inspections and checks of forklifts and other equipment before operating
- Ensuring that forklift driving areas are free from spills, wood and metal, or other obstructions and materials that could damage the forklift or create an unsafe condition
- Ensuring all incoming delivery matches the company purchase order
- Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders
- Pull and package materials to fulfill customers’ orders properly
- Loading materials to trucks or designated areas
- Moving material from storage areas to loading areas for transport and to different departments
- Material Handling duties may include things like consolidating inventory and/or kitting parts for workorders and positioning it in front of welding booths or other designated locations
- Documents materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units
- Maintain a clean and organized work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
- Report unsafe working conditions
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervision
Safety is an important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety practices, policies, procedures and housekeeping standards to make safety a priority at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Read blueprints and schematics
- Proven experience to operate forklifts
- Ability to use measuring tape
- Read and understand verbal and written instructions
- Prior experience working in a warehouse and /or manufacturing company
- Basic reading and writing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as Material Handler and Inventory Control
- Certified to operate forklifts
- Prior ERP experience
- Knowledge of storage procedures and planning procedures
- Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing
- Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred
