Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated OB/GYN Surgery Scheduler/Referral Specialist to join our team. This role plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth coordination of patient referrals and surgeries within our facility. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and processing referrals and scheduling surgeries for in office procedures along with in/outpatient surgeries efficiently and accurately.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule all incoming patient referrals.
- Coordinates with anesthesia groups to confirm scheduling for coverage.
- Accurately uses procedure codes to ensure proper billing.
- Ensure all referral documentation is complete and accurate
- Ensuring all necessary paperwork for any patient add on is received by the appropriate staff.
- Communicates changes to schedule to appropriate staff
- Works closely with both Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities to avoid equipment or supply conflicts.
- Communicate with patients, providers, and on occasion insurance companies regarding referral status.
- Maintain detailed records of all referrals and follow-up actions.
- Cross trains with other areas such as front desk/scheduling appointments
- Collaborate with medical staff to facilitate timely and appropriate processing and scheduling of the patient.
- Completes consents and ensures accuracy before submitting to the chart builder.
- Promote positive relationships with scheduling coordinators, physicians and nursing staff members throughout the scheduling process.
Requirements:
- Previous experience OB/GYN surgery scheduling.
- Preferred ECW experience
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Ability to work effectively in an office environment.
- Experience with managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of managed care systems and HIPAA regulations.
