SUMMARY
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of technical activities associated with the operation of ultrasound equipment to conduct screening and diagnostic examinations. This includes setting up the ultrasound machine, selecting the appropriate transducer, and adjusting imaging parameters to capture high-quality images of the patient's anatomy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Prepares patients for the exam, explains procedure, positions patients for the exam, selects appropriate imaging techniques, and ensures technical quality of the images.
- Perform quality control functions related to ultrasound
- Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality and obtain additional images as needed
- Prepare and set up medical supplies using aseptic techniques, as appropriate
- Develop ultrasound films and match them with the appropriate paperwork for interpretation
- Assist in the maintenance and compilation of statistical data
- Demonstrate proficiency in performing all ultrasound procedures, including interventional procedures
- Act in a team leader capacity on a routine basis
- Monitor ultrasound section procedures and supply charges to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Operate ultrasound equipment and other medical devices as appropriate
- Position patients, using immobilization techniques when necessary
- Calculate exposure factors and assist physicians
Requirements
- ARDMS certification in ultrasound required
- ARRT advanced certification in radiology preferred
- BLS certification required
- 1 year of experience required
- Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
- Ability to travel up to 80% of the time time to the local clinics
