Summary
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: registering guests, assigning rooms, accommodating special requests, and ensuring the guests have a pleasant stay and smooth checkout. We also provide guest tours of the property and additional concierge services for recommendations of local attractions, activities, shopping, entertainment, restaurants, and the best beaches in Santa Cruz.
This is a position that requires day/evening availability, weekday and weekend availability, holidays may be required to work, on-call or occasional coverage may also occur at times and candidates must be reliable. We are looking to be sure once a candidate is hired they will be dependable and able to work a variety of days and times. We will try to have a set schedule but in this industry, we also need someone who can be flexible from time to time when needed. This may include different or additional shifts.
General Duties
➔ Maintains an inventory of vacancies, reservations and room assignments.
➔ Possesses a working knowledge of reservation procedures.
➔ Takes same-day reservations and future reservations.
➔ Become familiar with the cancellation procedures.
➔ Knows room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.
➔ Registers arriving guests and assigns rooms.
➔ Coordinates room status updates with the housekeeping department by notifying housekeeping of all check-outs, late check-outs, early check-ins, and special requests.
➔ Coordinates guest room maintenance work with property maintenance staff.
➔ Uses persuasive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel.
➔ Maintains customers’ privacy.
➔ Maintains a high level of professional appearance and demeanour.
➔ Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to the Manager or General Manager if site management is unavailable.
➔ Processes guest check-outs and handles monetary transactions.
➔ Must comply with Ocean Echo Inn policies and procedures.
➔ Responsible for laundry tasks.
➔ Responsible for breakfast room clean-up & stocking.
➔ Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
➔ Must have excellent "people skills"
➔ Must have a basic working knowledge of the area including activities, restaurants, points of interest, etc.
➔ Must have basic computer experience including excel, word, outlook
➔ Must be able to walk, stand, climb, kneel, reach, crawl, push, pull and twist on occasion.
➔ Must display excellent organization and time management skills.
➔ Firm grasp of the English language including spelling and grammar.

Qualifications

- Prior experience in front desk or guest services roles
- Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $18.50 per hour
