Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a Director of Clinical Trials to oversee our growing Obstetrics Trials program. This Director must have previous leadership experience in clinical research operations, experience in OB trials is highly preferred.
The Director of Clinical Trials develops strategic and tactical approaches to ensure new business including the identification of key areas of competitive advantage and the identification of new service offerings. Oversees and ensures successful delivery and execution of clinical trial operations, including personnel management, business development, and regulatory compliance. Develops and implements innovative programmatic, strategic, and operational approaches to advance the quality and efficiency of clinical trials and clinical research networks.

Director Clinical Trials Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization's goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success.
- Ensures appropriate review of protocols and operational plans for new projects to identify potential efficiencies and operational impact.
- Ensures that bids/proposals reflect sponsor needs and optimally represent service line clinical trial operations capabilities, prior experience, and differentiating factors.
- Provides guidance and direction in negotiation of scope of work, timelines, budgets, and payment
- Identifies and recommends opportunities for operational improvements, and develops new operational capabilities in conjunction with hospital leadership.
- Collaborates with Finance Leadership to analyze the cost structure and key drivers of profitability of the Clinical Trials portfolio.
- Builds strong cross-functional coordination, fosters sharing of best practices and lessons learned, and implements innovative operational strategies for projects that span research domains.
- Serves as an internal expert resource regarding the integration of clinical and operational issues for clinical trials as well as regulatory training and compliance.
- Identifies the skills and expertise critical to success in the evolving clinical research landscape and incorporates these into staff development initiatives
Director Clinical Trials Requirements:
- Minimum Experience - 7 years of progressively responsible experience in clinical research operations; 3 years in a leadership role
- Minimum Education - Bachelor's Degree in any field
