Job Overview : We are seeking an experienced, dedicated Director of Quality Assurance to join our team. Excellent communication and leadership skills are a must, as well as keen attention to detail. The role s main purpose is to establish, direct and maintain the company s food safety, food security and food quality systems / programs.Responsibilities : Reports directly to VP of Operations and CEOSupervise & schedule daily QC Technician and QA Lead ActivitiesSupervise & coordinate with Sanitation Manager daily tasks, e.g. Master Sanitation schedule, reports, supplier visits & training (chemicals)Responsible for coordination, implementation, and maintenance of QA ProgramsResponsible for identifying quality and food safety issues & verify they have been corrected in a timely matterConduct internal, 3rd party and customer audits to ensure compliance to all Federal, State, County, City Regulations, Customer Requirements, SQF code and Food Standards such as GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), Pest Control, Glass Avoidance, SSOP / HACCP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure / Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point), Allergen control and general facility conditionDevelop documents and implement training, programs, and procedures to ensure that customers, company, and regulatory specifications are met. Training courses include but not limit to product quality standards, GMP s, Food Safety Issues, Allergens, Sanitation and HACCP.Acts as liaison to USDA inspector(s) on site (IIC) and Health department to ensure plant is up to the required specifications.Validate sanitation procedures & pre-operational inspections.Point of contact to outside microbiology lab for testing raw materials, finished products (including allergen tests; Gluten), and comply with all regulations and GLPs.Conduct Hold and Release of productsVerify HACCP Critical Control Point (CCPs) monitoring recordsEnsure all equipment is calibratedAssist in coordinating investigations into all NCR issues and Customer and Consumer Complaints and ensure they are followed throughConduct end-product safety and quality analysis in collaboration with QA teamOversee the monitoring of all storage areas, ensure FIFO, prevent materials cross contamination, temperature control etc.Responsible for Supplier Approval program, incoming materials inspection program, and work with Purchasing Department to ensure vendor compliance.Serve as SQF Practitioner of facility.Provide technical support to fellow members of management as needed.Assist with ad hoc responsibilities as needed by senior managementQualifications : Skills : 5 years

experience in the food manufacturing industryDegrees : Bachelor s degree in food science & technology (or related field); HACCP certified, SQF certified.Food Quality and Food Safety system knowledge and experience and familiarity with food regulatory compliance requiredUnderstanding / knowledge of FDA / USDA / Gluten Free food regulationsSolid problem-solving abilities with the ability to coach and mentor others in this capacityGood communication skills, Bi-lingual in English / Spanish is preferredWorking Conditions / Physical Requirements : 50% of time in manufacturing environment50% of time in an office environmentLift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.Ability to walk / stand for long periods of time.Reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.Regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather).Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

  • This is an Exempt Position with a Negotiation on Annual Salary based on years of experience
