What are the responsibilities and job description for the SANITATION MANAGER position at Inova Health System?
Essential Job Functions / Duties :
Overall responsibility for cleaning of poultry plant to USDA standards, as well as troubleshooting any problems or unusual situations.
Evaluate performance of personnel and equipment.
Order chemicals and consistently update SDS information in accordance with Safety Program requirements.
Responsible to supervision and development of all Sanitation Supervisors.
Confirm payroll records for production employees as necessary.
Maintain & be accountable for safety, food safety, cost, and productivity.
Enforce safety rules; identify and correct hazards. Hold safety meetings; train team members in safe job procedures. Investigate accidents and take corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
Accountable for results across all areas of responsibility.
Be on call as required in case of emergency.
Oversee special projects, start-ups, trials, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Plan sanitation schedules and staffing requirements.
Perform various special tasks as assigned by the Shift Manager.
Comply with all written corporate and plant policies.
Ensure plant compliance in food safety and assist in the upkeep of the complex grounds.
Comply with all written corporate safety and plant policies.
Maintain the highest possible level of personal hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with plant GMP policies.
Follow the written specification for packaging and labeling of products.
Identify and report any suspicious or abnormal situations to the plant manager. Abnormal situation would be :
Product tampering Willful product adulteration Unauthorized employees in restricted areas Situation where a belief that product adulteration may be occurring Situation where a belief that product adulteration may be occurring Equipment malfunction that may put product wholesomeness at stake
Physical / Mental Requirements :
Working in a wet / damp environment and a normal room temperature environment. Standing / walking 100% of the workday. Lifting various weights on an as needed basis.
Qualifications :
1-3 years leadership and sanitation experience in poultry processing or related field Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to multi-task and prioritize. Must demonstrate successful supervisory skills, writing skills, creative & effective problem-solving skills, and basic knowledge of computers & related software. Experience in a fast-paced environment.
