The Vice President of Talent and Organizational Development is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive and contemporary, Inova-relevant talent development strategy for deeply transforming its workforce as the primary means for achieving Inova's strategy. The talent strategy will be grounded in Inova's values, align with competencies required by the enterprise strategy, and effectively address industry workforce challenges. The talent strategy will address development of leaders as well as the various categories and personas of the broader workforce.
VP, Talent & Org Development Job Responsibilities
- Talent Development Strategy: Maintain a current understanding of workforce trends and workforce capabilities required to achieve Inova's organizational priorities. Develop and execute an evergreen talent strategy and annual plan that reflects best practices for deep and enduring workforce development.
- Skill Development and Talent Pipelines: Design and implement strategies to continuously advance team members' skills and capabilities, with an emphasis on building strong internal pipelines that prepare Inova for future workforce needs.
- Leadership Development: Establish leadership development programs for all levels, with a focus on senior leaders, high-potential talent, and physician leaders, embedding leadership competencies needed to drive cultural and operational transformation.
- Performance Management: Oversee the annual performance management process, ensuring it serves as a tool to drive internal talent development and capability building across all levels.
- Career Pathing: Partner with key stakeholders to build and communicate meaningful career paths that foster talent retention and ensure continuity in leadership and critical roles.
- Succession Planning and Talent Review: Lead key programs like talent review and succession planning to ensure robust career pipelines and the development of internal talent to ensure continuity. Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on talent.
- Onboarding Leadership: Oversee first day and beyond onboarding experience, and ensure leaders are equipped to deliver an exceptional onboarding experience that prepares new team members to succeed, feel included, and excited about their career at Inova.
- Learning Solutions: Advance Inova's learning culture by designing adaptable and innovative learning solutions that meet diverse team member needs, from onboarding through all stages of career development. Integrate innovative learning technologies including AI and virtual learning platforms to enhance accessibility and engagement. Responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of Inova's learning management system. Monitor and analyze talent metrics offering insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Coaching Infrastructure: Build and enhance Inova's internal coaching function, providing leaders with the necessary resources to support their growth and development and support to build high-performing teams.
- Cultural Transformation: Contribute to architecture and drive of the adaptive side of Inova's transformation, supporting leaders and team members to adopt the necessary mindsets, behaviors, and skills required to advance our organizational culture.
VP, Talent & Org Development Minimum Requirements:
- 10 years of progressive leadership experience in talent management, organizational development, or a related field, including experience leading large scale change management initiatives and organization transformations
- Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
VP, Talent & Org Development Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Experience working in a highly matrixed organization with a strong emphasis on collaboration and cross-functional partnerships.
- Proven ability to drive innovative talent development strategies that align with business objectives.
- Extensive project and vendor management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing teams of learning and development professionals, with a track record of fostering growth and high performance.
- Experience leading large scale change initiatives and/or organization transformations.
