- Manages the daily operations of the Medical Records department, ensuring adherence to Inova policies and regulatory standards.
- Assists in implementing strategies for HIM improvements in collaboration with the Senior Director. Supervises and mentors medical records staff, ensuring ongoing training and professional development.
- Oversees the integrity and accuracy of patient records, addressing deficiencies as needed in collaboration with clinical staff.
- Prepares departmental reports on productivity and compliance for review by the Senior Director.
- Assists in the budget management of the medical records department and identifies opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory agency standards in all aspects of medical records management.
- Acts as a liaison with clinical, legal, and operational departments to resolve issues related to health records and documentation.
- Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, hiring and training team members, creating and implementing business strategies, managing performance of team members, and delegating tasks.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Work schedule: Full-time working Days, Monday – Friday
- Education: Associate degree in HIM or health related field (or 2 additional years of experience in HIM or acute hospital settings in lieu of degree).
- Experience: 5 years of management experience in a HIM/Medical Records
- department using EMR applications, and experience with the Joint Commission, Federal, State, and other regulatory body requirements.
- Certifications: Registered Health Information Technician
