Inova Ambulatory Surgery Centers is current hiring a Full-Time Infection Control Registered Nurse/Preventionist. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience as an Infection Control Nurse. This role requires travel to our six Surgery Center locations (travel pay and potential for remote work day available).
Job Summary:
The Infection Control Preventionist (ICP) serves as a subject matter expert and consultant to various stakeholders, including patients, staff, physicians, managers, and departmental personnel, to enhance infection prevention practices within the organization. The ICP conducts ongoing infection surveillance and analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of prevention and control strategies, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals and objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive consultation, education and training on infection prevention and control subjects within the ambulatory surgery center
• Promote a culture of infection prevention within the center by applying performance improvement strategies to drive continuous enhancement of practices
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards related to infection prevention and control specific to the ambulatory surgery center setting
• Recommend new or updated infection control practices and procedures based on the latest epidemiological research and evidence-based guidelines
• Collaborate with the Public Health Department to monitor and follow up on reportable diseases or conditions that require public health actions in the ASC
• Implement and enforce preventive measures aimed at minimizing the risk of occupational exposure and patient exposure to infectious diseases
• Maintain and update policies and procedures related to infection prevention
• Participate in disaster preparedness planning ensuring the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance disaster readiness
• Complete an annual risk assessment, plan, and goals for the ASC
• Provide infection prevention and quality reports to managers at the ASC
• Perform additional duties as needed to support infection prevention and overall patient and staff safety in the ASC
Job Requirements:
• Minimum of 2-3 experience as a Registered Nurse or in Public Health
• Previous experience as an Infection Control Nurse/Preventionist is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Public Health from an accredited Institution
• Current Infection Control Certification (CIC)/Certified Ambulatory Infection Prevention (CAIP) or the ability to obtain within two years of employment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to travel between all Surgery Centers, as needed
