Position Overview
The Custodian will be responsible for general housekeeping and sanitation of the facility and office spaces, ensuring a clean and safe working environment - Hours - 11 am to 7 pm 5 days a week. Responsibilities include general custodial duties such as cleaning, dusting, trash receptacle maintenance, operating industrial floor scrubbers, vacuum systems, and performing minor maintenance tasks such as changing filters, along with other duties as may be assigned. This position is available for 1st or 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, with semi-negotiable working hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and organized facility.
- Use and maintain industrial cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers and vacuum systems for both low and high-reach areas.
- Support 5S initiatives by maintaining cleanliness in operator areas.
- Perform light maintenance tasks such as filter changes and minor building repairs.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to execute required housekeeping duties.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain assigned building systems.
- Prepare and maintain cleaning reports.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Wear appropriate protective equipment and adhere to safety guidelines.
- Complete special projects as assigned by management.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to operate basic cleaning tools and equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand tools, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to cleanliness and maintenance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management and co-workers.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while understanding the importance of teamwork.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize workload efficiently.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, pull, move, and lift up to 50 lbs. in a production environment.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Reliable transportation.
- Solid work ethic and commitment to maintaining a clean environment.
- Commercial cleaning experience.
Preferred:
- Experience operating industrial cleaning equipment.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Work is performed in a printing production facility, with exposure to noise, inks, and chemicals.
- Requires standing, walking, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
- Must be flexible to support production needs, including occasional voluntary overtime and weekend work.
