Position Overview:
The Director, Quality is responsible for overall development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS). This is a cross-functional role that leads efforts aimed at improving the quality of Inseego products and the external perception of product quality. This role works closely with the reverse logistics team to understand failure modes and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the organization’s Quality Management System conforms to customer, internal, ISO 9001, and regulatory/legal requirements.
- Define, develop and implement a disaster recovery plan (DRP).
- Ensure evaluation of, and reporting on, vendor quality systems.
- Ensure adequate inspection (examination) process of incoming materials is in place at CM/ODM to ensure that they meet requirements.
- Manage the monitoring, measurement, and review of internal processes across the organization, especially those that affect the quality of Inseego’s products.
- Work with the CM/ODM to ensure that their team of Quality engineers, inspectors, auditors, analysts, and technicians are performing their duties as required.
- Analyze factory and field failure data, recommend corrective action(s) and lead efforts to improve product quality.
- Conduct failure analysis/correction actions with suppliers utilizing industry-standard failure analysis (FMEA) techniques such as 8D analysis.
- Report to management on the performance of the QMS (e.g., results of quality audits, corrective actions), including the need for improvement.
- Customer-facing focal point for all quality related topics, including design quality reviews and early warning process programs.
- Address customer inquiries regarding certification and compliance requirements (e.g. ROHS, REACH, UL, CE, carbon emissions, EMI, etc.).
- Lead and manage efforts to diagnose, troubleshoot and determine root cause of various product issues found in the field. Keep stakeholders updated and report status to stakeholders and customers as appropriate on a timely basis.
- Lead and manage efforts to rework devices in field as necessary serving as focal point for internal and external stakeholders.
- Leads FAI (First Article Inspection) for new products against PdM specifications.
- Analyze market data & customer feedback to establish an accurate, externally focused perspective of Inseego’s product quality. Lead efforts internally aimed at improving the external perception to the greatest extent possible and practical.
- Keep up on standards, regulations/laws, issues, and news with respect to product quality.
- Lead the development of a comprehensive set of leading indicators for product quality.
- Report supplier, factory and field quality metrics weekly and drive initiatives and corrective actions to ensure KPI’s remain within established limits.
Experience/Requirements:
- Demonstrated success in a Quality lead position or similar role.
- Proven ability to lead a diverse team of quality engineers and technicians.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks; proven strong organizational and project management skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Track record in driving change and removing hurdles in fast growth organizations by working cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Line Management, Sales & Operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to C-level executives.
- Agile self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to travel, both in the US and 2-3 times annually to Asia.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or quality
- 10 years of experience in Engineering or Quality in a high-tech company
- Experience building and/or managing a technical team
Salary Range: $159,086 - $175,000
