3rd Shift Custodian

Overview

Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, seeks to hire a Custodian for our 3rd Shift to provide all the cleaning, waste, and recyclable removal services, snow clearing of all entrances, carpeting and hard floor maintenance, and other traditional tasks as needed.

3rd Shift

Thursday - Monday 10 : 00pm to 6 : 30am.

Compensation : The beginning rate of pay for this position is $20.00 / hour (6 month probationary period). After the probationary period the compensation will increase to $21.00 / hour. At this time the position will also become a union position. After 1 year from the date of hire, the hourly wage will vary based on the shift and current union contract (estimated at 25.36 / hr)

This is a union position if a regular position is offered / accepted during the 6 month probationary period, the successful candidate will be required to join the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local Number 70.

Upon the offer / acceptance of the position after the 6 month temp period, the full Macalester benefits package would be offered at that time. See the benefit details below.

Responsibilities

• Routine cleaning to include dusting, vacuuming, cleaning / washing / disinfecting surfaces, collecting and hauling trash, care of hard-surfaced and carpeted floors, cleaning restrooms and shower rooms, cleaning elevator interiors and pits
• Additional periodic duties may include washing exterior windows, stripping and refinishing of floors, replacing light bulbs, removing snow by shoveling and / or the use of power snow blowers, and performing necessary College event set-ups and other work as required and instructed
• Complete and maintain supply order requests, and insure an adequate supply stock is maintained in the building
• Observe building conditions and take necessary actions to maintain or repair situations by submitting work orders for repairs and performing minor repairs and reporting any loss, damage, breakage or unsafe conditions, or maintenance problems immediately
• Maintain security of assigned keys, building lock-up and unlocking, room opening and closing per instructions
• Train, work with, and / or coordinate the responsibilities of Facilities Services student employees

Qualifications

Must possess a valid Minnesota Driver’s License
