Position Description :
Serve as the lead Application Programmer for the Division of Physical Sciences, consisting of six academic departments and multiple institutes. In conjunction with the Director of Physical Sciences IT Services (PS-ITS) and input from the Division Dean and Assistant Dean, incumbent develops both long- and short-term strategic vision for application development and data management in support of instructional and operational activities. Create, implement, and update divisional policies for main instructional and business applications in compliance with campus and UC standards. Interface with UCLA IT Services developers and broader campus programmer community to ensure that divisional application development is complementary to other efforts on campus.
Lead all phases of instructional and business application software development from planning and requirement collection to workflow modelling and design to implementation and technical support. Serve as the primary Bruin Learn representative for the Division. Provide direction and technical leadership to departmental programmers on multiple software development projects of moderate to large scope and complexity. Incumbent is to utilize expert level knowledge and programming sills to ensure administrative data and instructional requirements are met.
Develop, apply, and enforce best software development security practices and data management practices which align with research, instructional, and administrative requirements and UCLA / UC security policy.
