Essential Job Duties :
The Assistant Director is a member of the Leadership Team for Prevention Services and will serve as a resource and consultant to all staff and the campus community. The Assistant Director is required to perform administrative duties, provide leadership in Alcohol and other Drug Education and Outreach, provide direct service to students, consult with university faculty / staff, and participate in supervision and training. This person will assist in developing, revising, and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure adherence to best practices and legal and ethical codes. This person will be responsible for the coordination of teams & committees and will directly offer administrative supervision for permanent staff members, graduate assistants, or temporary or student workers. There is an expectation that Assistant Directors will assist in hiring, training, supervising, and consulting with all staff, including trainees, as needed.
This staff member serves on the Administrative Team, along with the current Directors in the department. The Assistant Director will supervise Prevention Services operations in the absence of the Directors. Members of the Administrative Team will be expected to be available for after-hours postvention support, submit reports and / or data to the Director as requested and will serve on committees within and outside of the Center as required.
General Duties and Responsibilities inclue but are not limited to :
- One full-time, 12-month position with responsibility to assist in all areas of Prevention Services functioning
- Oversee the coordination of Alcohol and Other Drug Education Program, including Recovery and the Outreach and Resiliency Program, including Postvention and Mental Health Ambassadors through a clinically informed lens
- Offer direct service assessments and evaluations for Alcohol and Other Drug resources and treatment
- Coordinate resource and referral process with Counseling Center clinical services, off-campus providers and internal CARES team
- Supervise coordinators and specialists in AOD and Outreach and oversee supervision of graduate assistants or student workers
- Lead team meetings and campus / community meetings (AOD Consortium) related to the above-listed areas
- Serve on university committees related to the areas of AOD, outreach, wellness, etc.
- Assist in the management of the Outreach, AOD, and Recovery budget lines for Prevention Services
- Maintain contracts with BASICS, eCheckup, Vector, or other AOD and Outreach platforms used by Prevention Services, including IT and budget oversight
- Support initiatives to identify funding in the areas of AOD, Recovery, and Outreach
- Cover after-hours and weekend programmatic needs including outreach and postvention
- Consultation with faculty staff, parents, and other stakeholders as needed
- Assist in data collection and assessment for monthly and annual reports
- Coordinate the completion of the DAAPP (Drug and Alcohol-Free Schools) and Biennial Report for alcohol prevention and education
- Monitor outreach calendar to support staff and monitor on-going outreach projects, faculty training, and campus community requests
- Develop and present student, family, faculty, and staff trainings to educate on signs of concerning behaviors and Prevention and Counseling resources
- Oversee office operations when Director is not available
