Responsibilities
The Florida State University School of Dance invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Dance specializing in Lighting and Visual Design. This position will also include the title and duties of Director of Production. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, collegial partner prepared toward with our current faculty and staff to prepare our students for success through an understanding of the integration of performance, scholarly, and creative activities and disciplines.
- Teaching in areas of lighting, production and visual design. Candidate areas of expertise may allow for additional elective courses in specialty areas.
- Mentoring students, especially as a member of graduate committees.
- Lighting all School of Dance productions.
- Serving as the Director of Production. This would include working with the School of Dance Production Manager, Production Assistant, and others in supervising, coordinating, and implementing School productions.
- Service on professional, state, university, college, and school committees as assigned or elected.
- As a prominent research university, Florida State University expects faculty to establish, develop, and maintain a successful creative and research agenda. While we enjoy and expect creative collaboration on school or university projects, there must be a strong focus on developing a national or international reputation within the field at large.
