Mechanical Design Engineer
Assistant / Associate / Full Professor, Tenure-track Faculty Appointment
The Department of Biosystems andAgricultural Engineering at Oklahoma State University invites applications fora tenure-track Research (70%) and Teaching (30%) faculty position with responsibilitiesin mechanical design and innovation. This position carries the expectation of excellence in research andteaching commensurate with the land grant mission of Oklahoma State University.
Position Description : The faculty member will be expected todevelop and sustain a nationally recognized, externally funded, and responsiveresearch program in mechanical design with specialties of interest that may include, but are not limited to : advanced fluid power systems, equipment and systems design for off-road vehicles and precision agriculture, hybrid power transmission, automation, systemperformance assessment, intelligent machines for agricultural production,unmanned aerial systems, innovative processing systems, machine visiontechnologies, and robotics. The successful individual will expand departmentalactivities in machine systems and develop innovative designs and technologyapplications that enhance agricultural and forestry production practices, foodprocessing methods, and use of natural resources.
Closecollaboration is also expected with faculty in BAE and other departments in theDivision of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources(DASNR), the College of Engineering, Architecture & Technology (CEAT),and other units of the University, as well as regional,state, and federal organizations.
Teachingresponsibilities include graduate and undergraduate courses within theBiosystems Engineering (ABET accredited) and the Agricultural Systems Technology degree curricula that support the machine system sand agricultural engineeringarea and align with expertise. Updating and implementing innovative teachingmethods / materials, contributing to senior design capstone and student projects,and advising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students is alsoexpected.
Qualifications : Required—Earned PhD degree in Biosystems Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closelyrelated discipline. Demonstrated ability to attract external funding, publishhigh-quality peer-reviewed materials, and provide instruction to a wide varietyof audiences. Candidates must be highly proficient in English, possessing outstanding verbal, written, andmultimedia communication skills. A willingness to travel and a demonstratedability to work collaboratively and on interdisciplinary teams. Preferred—Industry experience and current, or the ability to obtain, Professional Engineering registration.
EmploymentConditions : This positionis a full-time, 11-month, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Salary and benefits arecompetitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.Retirement and long-term disability, medical, dental and life insuranceprograms are available to employees.
