Job Summary / Description :
Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations this position is a key contributor to help the University increase and manage its philanthropic giving. The Development Officer’s primary responsibility is to discover, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects by aligning their interests with the strategic initiatives of Angelo State University.
Typical Duties / Job Duties :
- Identify, lead, and develop strategic initiatives tied to specific fundraising campaigns. Research and develop specific campaign plans utilizing CASE and other resources. Provide campaign support, including task identification and implementation, motivational ideas, timelines and schedules for area of responsibility, recognition, and reporting.
- Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects with direct responsibility for maximizing gift results. Responsible for developing key relationships with identified donor prospects and corporate sponsors. Make 175 face to face visits per year for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship purposes. Maintain constituent reports for every donor contact.
- Work with Development and Alumni Relations staff to host University events that will maximize stewardship of existing donors as well as provide exposure to potential prospects.
- Works closely with Database Coordinator to ensure appropriate database updates are made and do not contact lists are followed while researching new and current individuals to solicit.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree plus two years experience in development, marketing or related field. Must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of effective communication skills and ability to show evidence of strong organizational / interpersonal and communication skills; experience in project management with strong performance; and the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently on project with minimal supervision.
