The Muscarelle Museum of Art is located on the historic campus of William & Mary. Its permanent collection of nearly 8,000 objects is one of the oldest campus-based collections of art in the U.S. The Museum serves as a working laboratory for the university, collaborating with faculty and staff in interdisciplinary ways and engaging students through internships, research and study, as well as a dynamic resource for the wider community. Position Summary :
The Events Assistant is responsible for supporting the Marketing & Events Manager with special events hosted at the museum. This position requires flexibility in scheduling for working weekend and evening hours.
An average of 20 hours a week is anticipated, but the actual amount from week to week will vary depending on the event schedule. Must be available for evening and weekend shifts, with flexibility for occasional late hours.
Conditions of Employment :
- All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed, on average, 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year.
- This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
- This is a restricted position, subject to the continued availability of funding.
- This position involves substantial weekend and evening hours. An average of 20 hours a week is anticipated, but the actual amount from week to week will vary depending on the event schedule.
