The K-State Student Union, an affiliated 501c3 controlled corporation at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its executive director. This is an on-site leadership role.
Kansas State University, or K-State, was the nation's first operational land-grant university. This meant K-State was tasked with teaching agriculture, science, military science, and engineering to any interested student, opening up educational access and opportunity to all.With a current enrollment of approximately 20,300, K-State is consistently ranked in the top 10 for many prominent Princeton Review rankings, boasts some of the highest numbers ofnational scholarsin a public university, and consists of over 250 undergraduate programs and over 165 graduate programs.
Reporting to the associate vice president of community building and director of housing and dining services, the executive director of the K-State Student Union (executive director) provides outstanding leadership and strategic direction to the K-State Student Union (Union) and ensures the availability of a comprehensive array of services, programs, leadership experiences, and educational opportunities that foster a sense of well-being and belonging in an inclusive campus community. As a member of the associate vice president's leadership team, the executive director is an innovative and visionary leader who orchestrates a high-quality and outstanding student experience while overseeing and administering all facilities, programs, activities, services, and vendor and tenant relations within the Union. The executive director leads and manages a dynamic team of 35 full-time and 125 part-time and student staff, including five direct reports, and effectively administers an annual budget of $5 million.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $135,000-$140,000.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements include a master's degree (doctoral preferred) with an educational emphasis in higher education administration, student development, student affairs, business administration, or a related discipline and demonstrated progressively responsible experience in student union leadership, management, and supervisory roles in a robust campus environment. The successful candidate will understand national best practices for a multi-use facility in a university setting, including budget creation and fiscal management, daily operations, reservations, facilities management, programs, and policies and procedures.
