Overview

The faculty member will provide educational leadership, teach, and advise students in Civil Engineering, with a focus on water resources, environmental engineering, and other civil engineering topics. Expertise in water resources engineering is preferred to strengthen the program.

The selected candidate will have a broad understanding of civil engineering disciplines such as construction, geotechnical, structures, transportation, and water resources and environmental engineering. The position will start in the Fall semester, August 2025.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a closely related engineering or science discipline AND four (4) years of full-time work experience in water resources and environmental engineering. Required
  • Master's Degree or Doctorate in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering or science discipline AND experience in water resources and environmental engineering. Preferred
  • Knowledge of the ABET accreditation process. Preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Pennsylvania or another state transferable to Pennsylvania. Required for candidates with a Bachelor's Degree .
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is Preferred for candidates with a Master's Degree or Doctorate .
  • ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff and the public. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
  • Sensitivity to expectations of students, faculty, staff and the local community. Required
  • Developed organizational skills. Required
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. Required
  • Broad understanding of civil engineering disciplines such as construction, geotechnical, structures, transportation, and water resources and environmental engineering. Required
  • Knowledge and skills in the usage of modern tools used in water resources and land development disciplines of Civil Engineering. Preferred
  • Knowledge and skills in the usage of tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley Open Roads, MicroStation, WIN-TR55 (NRCS), and HEC-RAS. Knowledge and skills in the development and usage of Excel worksheets. Preferred
  • Knowledge and skills in the usage of Microsoft Office 365. (Desired) Preferred
  • Knowledge of topics related to water resources and environmental engineering. Preferred
  • Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate students in the theory and processes of Civil Engineering Technology.
  • Instruct and evaluate students in water resources, environmental engineering and other civil engineering subjects.
  • Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students.
  • Maintain office hours according to contractual agreements.
  • Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.
  • Engage in professional development and technological upgrade activities.
  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through program and School committee participation.
  • Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
  • Attend department and School meetings as scheduled.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and follow-up activities.
  • Assist the Dean, Assistant Dean, and / or Department Head with the development and maintenance of learning assessment plans and documentation.
  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation.

    Pay TransparencyCommensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2024 / 25 academic year is $60,563 – $78,407. College Statement
