The Cluster for Improving Healthcare Outcomes through Sensory Technology at Dartmouth invites applications for two postdoctoral research positions. This cluster focuses on advancing foundational research and translating discoveries into real-world applications through technology transfer and commercialization in health and wellness.
We are seeking two highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Researchers to lead the research and development of wearable and mobile systems aimed at enhancing human performance and promoting longevity. Ideal candidates will demonstrate exceptional system-building expertise and a strong ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary research teams.
Postdoctoral Researchers will play a pivotal role in driving the Cluster’s research goals. Responsibilities will include conducting foundational research, leading technical and clinical studies, and contributing to the development of impactful applications in sensory technology. Under the guidance of the Cluster Head, you will align research efforts with the strategic vision of the Cluster, fostering innovation and delivering meaningful advancements in healthcare and wellness.
These positions are full-time, non-remote, in-residence at Dartmouth in Hanover, NH, with start date as early as Spring 2025. Initial appointments are typically for two years, with possibility of renewal. Postdoctoral researchers are advised and hosted in the Department of Computer Science . They are also supported by the Guarini School for Graduate and Advanced Studies , including their diversity and inclusion initiatives .

Key Responsibilities :
- Lead foundational research on wearable sensor technologies, focusing on real-time biosignal tracking, cognitive and physiological data analysis, and system development.
- Develop machine learning models, particularly neural networks, to interpret human performance and cognitive states based on data from wearable devices.
- Design and build hardware prototypes, including PCB design, circuit development, and iterative refinement.
- Develop and implement firmware for controlling hardware devices, ensuring seamless integration between hardware and software.
- Contribute to the design and execution of clinical studies or human subject research, leveraging wearable systems to validate hypotheses.
- Author and publish high-quality research papers in top conferences and journals, and present findings at academic venues.
- Support grant writing efforts to secure research funding and contribute to collaborative projects.
- Produce scientific publications, maintain comprehensive documentation, and prepare technical reports for the cluster and the broader research community.
