Responsibilities and Duties
Mental Health Services : Provides direct mental health services to TU students as an advance practice nurse at the University Health Center during regular center hours. Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients within the realm of the provider’s professional expertise. In-person and telehealth visits will be offered. Refers to specialists as needed and as appropriate. Orders appropriate labs, tests, and medications based on the patient’s presentation and needs. Provides ongoing care in coordination with the rest of the Health Center team following a Collaborative Care model. Documents within the electronic health record. Consults with the Medical Director and / or Staff Psychiatrist on complex cases or as needed.
Consultation : Provides as needed consultations and recommendations for students with mental health needs referred by the Student Outreach and Support (SOS) and CARE Teams.
Participation on University and Departmental Committees : Participates in various university committees having a mental health focus. Participates in staff meetings and quality assurance activities, including peer review and audits, quality improvement projects as assigned, and development of clinical protocols and guidelines. Other administrative duties as assigned by the Medical Director.
Continuing Education : Participates in continuing education to improve knowledge of psychiatry and college health topics and satisfy certification and licensure requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Required :
Master’s degree in nursing.
Maryland licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
Active or pending DEA and CDS certificates.
Experience and proficiency in navigating electronic health records.
Two years of clinical experience working as a psychiatric nurse practitioner (other relevant clinical experience will also be considered).
Preferred :
Experience working in the college health setting.
Experience working on a multidisciplinary mental health team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (advanced knowledge and capabilities in utilizing Excel.
