Job Title : Radiologic Technologist
Department : University Hospital | Radiology
The Diagnostic division encompasses stationary and portable radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment located in University Hospital, East Hospital, Brain and Spine Hospital, Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital, Harding Hospital, James Cancer Hospital and OSUWMC Ambulatory Imaging locations. Plain film and fluoroscopic procedures are performed utilizing state of the art Digital Radiography equipment.
The Radiologic Technologist performs fixed and mobile radiographic / fluoroscopic procedures for the diagnosis / treatment of disease or injury. In addition, the position provides patient education and performs quality assessment activities for the division, under the direction of the Imaging Supervisor / Manager.
Imaging Technologist Duties – 80% of the time
Quality Assurance / Educational Responsibilities - 20% of time
Organizational Expectations
Ensures department(s) operates within practice standards and meet minimum standards of American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Ohio Department of Health (ODH), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and other regulatory agencies, i.e., American College of Radiology (ACR), Joint Commission (JC), Ohio Department of Health (ODH).
Practices within the Medical Center's policies and procedures. Adheres to the Intensive Caring Value statements as demonstrated through positive patient / guest relations, positive and effective interactions with staff, and formulating and meeting developmental goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Current Radiography license, ARRT (R) required. Current Radiography ODH license required. Previous radiographer experience is preferred.
Maintains registry & licensing status; meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.
Knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatments necessary to meet the age specific needs of the patient population served (Check those that apply) :
Interacts with physicians, patients, visitors, students, and all members of the health care team. Works closely with physicians, physicians practice personnel, and radiology manager.
Directly responsible to the Imaging Supervisor / Manager.
Physical / Visual / Mental Requirements
The work environment involves risks or discomforts, which require special safety precautions, additional safety education and health risk monitoring (i.e. ionizing radiation), working with sharps (i.e. needles), chemicals (i.e. cleaning solutions), and infectious disease, and maintaining safety at all times. Employees may be required to use protective clothing and gear such as masks, gowns, gloves, goggles, lead aprons, and shields. Responsible for abiding by departmental safe operating procedures.
