Job Summary
The Senior Computer Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring computer and peripheral equipment in an environment requiring continuous shift coverage to process data, monitor servers, applications, network and telecommunication rooms, according to operating instructions. Schedules requested jobs, as needed, by clients and ensures that jobs run and complete successfully.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Monitor automated job processes for success and logs results.
Monitor and control automated and manual computer job runs to ensure accuracy and constant job flow.
Monitor Data Center server availability and logs / reports anomalies / issues.
Detect and determine computer hardware and application problems, and communicate to appropriate Technical Teams.
Print requested output or large print processes.
Re-run jobs if incorrect or lost.
Perform server backups and manages off-site storage rotations.
Monitor status of all pending job runs.
Monitor application availability, including all information management system applications, email and library automation.
Monitor network availability as well as dial-in access.
Monitor and log Telecommunication Room temperatures (A / C status).
Develop operating and production control procedures.
Write documentation.
Develop training procedures.
Monitor physical Data Center access utilizing logbook.
Notify Senior Management and On-Call IT staff regarding server, network or application outages as well as environmental issues with Telecommunication Rooms.
Be available to work on weekends and / or any shift in a 24x7 Data Center.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma / GED required
- 2 years computer operations experience in a 24x7 Data Center required
- Previous shift work experience required

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
