Position Description
This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the front clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position may responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may be responsible for cash.

Major / Essential Functions
- Receives all incoming calls and faxes for the clinic. Takes information from incoming calls and faxes and handles or distributes accordingly.
- Work the appointment reminder and waitlist to ensure patients' appointments are scheduled as prescribed.
- Receive patient information and verify or update demographics and insurance; obtain current consent.
- Assist patients with medical forms and scan appropriate forms and information in EMR.
- Work incoming consults by e-fax and schedule appointments accordingly.
- Work consults in referral management and schedule appointments accordingly.
- Correspond with patients who have missed appointments and reschedule all patient appointments for the clinic.
- Contact patients regarding changed or bumped appointments and make appropriate changes in CPM.
- Helps new staff answer phones, schedule appointments, and send messages to nurses or physicians as needed.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. 3 years Customer Service, office or related experience, with 2 of those years in a healthcare or dental clinic setting preferred. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
