Position Purpose :
The Tax Manager is responsible for Institutional compliance with applicable federal and state income tax laws and regulations, providing leadership and guidance to other member of Finance to ensure completeness and accuracy of all tax filings for Dartmouth College and its subsidiaries. The Tax Manager is the primary point of contact for working with external regulatory agencies and tax advisors. The Tax Manager also provides instruction to Alumni classes and clubs regarding their tax reporting obligations.
Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp :
Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities :
- Minimum of 10 years relevant tax reporting and tax accounting experience with a high degree of autonomy.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, financial management, or another applicable field.
- Experience managing complex financial and tax matters, including matters requiring a high degree of confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of computer systems and research applications associated with Federal, state and local tax laws, regulations and filing procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax reporting requirements and deadlines for complex not-for-profit organizations, preferably higher education.
- Knowledge of investment partnership tax reporting, including UBI reporting on Form K-1.
- Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong ability to utilize project management skills to organize and prioritize work, including work of other team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as the ability to work well with colleagues and team members.
- Ability to work under pressure of time constraints, manage competing priorities and changes in schedules and priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Highly proficient with computer applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Commitment to diversity; ability to work effectively with all constituencies in a diverse institution.
