Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a University Events Technical Operations Engineer on the Dahlonega campus. The position facilitates the design, engineering and operation of technical audio and visual equipment for University of North Georgia-sponsored events. This position will advocate for technical audio and visual needs to ensure they are implemented in the design, engineering and installation process of University of North Georgia event spaces in collaboration with IT personnel. This position also provides consultations and general technical assistance, including digital media production, for University-sponsored events. As the University Events Technical Operations Engineer, this position provides professional video, audio, lighting, and display enhancement for events on the Dahlonega campus as well as other campuses in conjunction with other AVES staff as needed. The position also requires evening and weekend hours and occasional travel to all event spaces, campuses, and off-campus destinations that require support for University-sponsored events. This position schedules and supervises student staff. The employee collaborates with University staff and student personnel to provide technical training and advising for AV production in UNG event spaces. The position reports to the Director of Audio Visual Event Services.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational engineering for live University-sponsored events, to include major Presidential and Cabinet level events, conferences, ceremonies, and other critical events as assigned. The scope of the work will include setup, teardown, operation, maintenance of equipment, engineering, and programming of technical lighting, video, and sound equipment. Provide Audio Engineering for front of house as well as live video production including broadcast design, switching, video editing and integration, and virtual event support. Provide engineering solutions for audio enhancement, video production, video presentation, and lighting enhancement in the University Convocation Center. Ensure events meet ADA and University accessibility standards and policies.
- This position assesses and implements audiovisual requirements by consulting with event planners to analyze technical needs, interpret event objectives, and deliver tailored equipment and service solutions. This includes serving as a technical advisor to UNG staff in other areas ensuring the effective integration and implementation of audiovisual technologies, such as Athletics and Student Involvement.
- Maintain accurate technical support calendar and ensure appropriate equipment is in place, technical support staff are coordinated, and internal / external communication has taken place well before an event occurs. This includes the daily scheduling and management of Student Staff. Maintain currency of skills through training and continual study.
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external constituents via phone, email, or in-person, as needed, pertaining to equipment and services available to meet technical support requests.
