Seeking the Vice President of Student Life at Davidson
Davidson is seeking their next Vice President of Student Life (VPSL). Working closely with the President and in partnership with a high functioning and collaborative senior leadership team, the next VPSL will provide vision, leadership, and direction to further enhance the overall student experience at Davidson. The VPSL will think both broadly and specifically about the student experience and the strategic direction of the College.
The VPSL will be a highly visible leader on campus with significant levels of internal engagement, serving the student body, collaborating with faculty and staff, and communicating with parents and alumni. They will effectively lead and manage a team of skilled professionals and will role model and cultivate a healthy culture for the Student Life division, encouraging communication and transparency, and investing in professional development. This individual will bring a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in all its forms, including a record of individual action and institutional leadership. The next VPSL will also encourage a consistent feedback loop across constituencies in the context of a tight-knit campus community and work effectively and collaboratively across campus with all community members.
An experienced student affairs professional with strong managerial acumen, the next VPSL will think broadly and in nuanced terms about the Davidson student experience and how Student Life engages with divisions across the college. They will be an institutional thinker who can wisely and judiciously contribute to considering the most pressing issues facing Davidson. Candidates should have a serious commitment to the values and goals of Davidson’s private, residential, liberal arts education, a history of significant and effective organizational leadership and the demonstrated ability to build and sustain a campus climate that values community, belonging, and mutual respect.
