Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable AP World History Instructor to join our faculty and inspire students to develop a deep understanding of global history. The instructor will design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the College Board AP World History curriculum, foster critical thinking, and prepare students for success on the AP exam.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Teach AP World History following the College Board syllabus, incorporating historical thinking skills, themes, and analysis of primary/secondary sources.
- Instruction & Engagement: Utilize dynamic teaching strategies, including lectures, discussions, multimedia, and project-based learning, to enhance student understanding of historical events, patterns, and connections.
- Exam Preparation: Provide structured AP exam preparation, including practice tests, essay writing, and DBQ (Document-Based Question) analysis.
- Assessment & Feedback: Design and administer assessments, essays, and projects to evaluate student progress, providing timely feedback to support academic growth.
- Student Support: Offer office hours, tutoring, and additional resources for students who need extra guidance.
- Collaboration: Work with fellow faculty members to enhance interdisciplinary learning and participate in department meetings.
- Professional Development: Stay current with historical scholarship, College Board updates, and best teaching practices.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Certification: Teaching credential or state certification (if applicable).
- Experience: Previous experience teaching AP World History or high school history courses preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of world history from 1200 CE to the present
- Ability to foster analytical thinking and historical inquiry
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Experience integrating technology and multimedia into lessons
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AP test prep strategies
- Familiarity with College Board grading rubrics for SAQs, LEQs, and DBQs
- Passion for global perspectives and historical storytelling
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 5 per week
Schedule:

- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
