The Global Head of Production is accountable for the direction, motivation, and financial impact of their team and department. This position oversees Production Managers, in the US and UK, by providing leadership and expert knowledge of the processes, techniques, and technology necessary to complete the work with unsurpassed quality. Attracting, developing, and utilizing the most creative production talent available is necessary to ensure the highest quality production standards have been met for each project. This person is accountable for the overall quality of work, ensuring goals are met and projects are delivered on time and on budget.
We are looking for a production leader that has 10 years of experience across print and digital platforms. They have a large network of print and supply chain service providers across several continents. They are a creative problem solver whose production expertise allows them to guide complex development efforts across all production types. Someone with strong leadership skills is necessary to help oversee the Production Department's activities, as they are accountable for the overall quality of work.
They are a great communicator, mentor, and project manager with an innate ability to 'get things done'. This person will take a very proactive role in project development efforts, helping to advise project teams on best practices, process, schedules, and pricing, while building strong and resilient relationships along the way. They evolve operational processes and workflow documentation, while overseeing all aspects of the project life cycle from concept to delivery.
This person will work closely with the development team in conjunction with the production leads to manage current workloads as well as forecasting incoming projects to secure adequate resources. The role is based in San Rafael, California and includes a relocation package.

Essential Functions
- Establish best in class Project Management processes across all divisions
- Oversee, guide, and coordinate production operations, regarding job flow and processes in an organized and efficient manner
- Resource Management lead for department
- Define and document best practices and contribute to company production knowledge and training through mentoring and production staff development.
- Provide on-site day-to-day guidance and oversight of all projects for the team
- Create an environment of innovation in format, packaging, materials, and functionality
- Responsible for overseeing, guiding, and coordinating production operations job flow in an organized and efficient manner
- Mitigate risk regarding geopolitical instability by building a resilient and scalable network of global print and traffic suppliers
- Continuously explore and introduce innovative production processes
- Maintain oversight on all budgets and critical schedules and actively mitigate issues as they arise
- Ensure new business efforts are properly staffed, and the written and oral responses related to production meet the highest standards
- Ensure Production Managers route work efficiently through the process, submissions are filed properly, projects goals are met, and projects deliver on time and on budget
- Responsible for working with internal publishing teams and external suppliers to deliver quality work built to specifications on schedule and budget, across all format and production types
- Define individual goals for staff, providing mentorship, and assessing growth and development in their performance reviews
- Identify and hire new talent as needed, ensuring the department keeps pace with demand as well as recruiting through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years' experience in print and digital production, with progressively expanding roles
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
- Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (AI, IDD, PS)
