What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Technician (CEMS) position at Insight Environmental, Inc.?
Insight Environmental Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) is growing in Duluth/Superior, and we have a full-time opening for a CEMS Technician. Ideal candidates must be within a comfortable commutable distance. This position has the potential to make an additional income and join an already excellent group of CEMS technicians in the surrounding area.
Role
As a CEMS Technician, you will assist clients in meeting compliance standards by inspecting and monitoring their sites while maintaining high levels of safety and integrity. CEMS Experience is not required, but preferred.
Ideal Candidate
We see the ideal candidate growing into this role over time with hands-on training from other senior level CEMS staff. This position will have the responsibility of providing “On Call” coverage and because of that, this position comes with potential to make additional income on top of the base salary.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on various analyzers, specifically Siemens GCs and Teledyne analyzers
- Provide expert level guidance and troubleshooting
- Work closely with clients to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations
- Assist client with CEMS DAS system
- Assist in installation of CEMS equipment and system modifications
- Maintain daily and preventative maintenance logs
- Assist with other Insight Environmental duties (LDAR, Inspections, etc.)
- Participate in weekly compliance and daily safety meetings
Experience and Skills:
- High School Diploma – Electrical or Instrumentation schooling preferred
- Experience with Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) is preferred
- Ability to learn CEMS compliance requirements – 40 CFR Part 60, Part 75, EPA performance specifications, and State rules related to CEMS
- Ability to use a variety of testing equipment including: multi meters, flow meters, and various other electrical/instrumentation testing equipment
- Experience reading P&IDs
- Experience troubleshooting instrumentation
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with peers, managers, and customers
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to learn various environmental databases
- Must be able to work at heights up to 200'
- Must be able to work in pipe racks and climb towers
- Take rotating on-call shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to other company offices and job sites.
