Pay Rate: $25 to $28 /hr
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related
- 2-5 years of related work experience as an Analytical Chemist (no industry preference)
- Skilled in operating and maintaining ICP instrumentation (Inductively Coupled Plasma)
- Example: ICP-MS, ICP-OES, XRD, TGA/DSC, SEM-EDS, ion beam mill and microwave sample digester.
- Strong team player and willing to adapt to changes / be flexible
- Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience building strong relationships
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience with data analysis software and laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a skilled and motivated Analytical Chemist with expertise in Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP-OES) to support a multidisciplinary science and engineering research center in Lemont, IL. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting advanced chemical analyses, developing and validating analytical methods, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results. They will also be responsible to prepare samples, characterize and analyze various substances from R&D and a scale‐up process for production of advanced materials.
Day to Day:
- Conduct complex, multi-instrument analysis on various materials for electrochemical energy storage, nanomaterials, catalysts and other materials as needed. Samples must be analyzed in a timely manner and results reported back to allow for process improvements. This task will be conducted daily.
- Troubleshoot and conduct routine maintenance of analytical instruments. Instruments must be calibrated as needed.
- Schedule manufacturer’s technical support for annual preventative maintenance.
- Write safety plan for work.
- Train users for selected instruments. They must be trained to the correct operation of the instrument and monitored to ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Keep instrument usage logs. Write and periodically update SOP’s and safety documentation for instrument operation.
- The documents will be updated on an annual basis or sooner if new protocols or sample materials are introduced. This task will be conducted as needed or annually.
