What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bridge Inspection Engineer position at Insight Global?
Insight Global is seeking a Bridge Inspection Engineer to assist in various aspects of bridge safety inspection projects. Responsibilities include conducting field bridge inspections, preparing reports, and leading inspection teams. The role involves planning and organizing inspections, coordinating with access equipment and traffic providers, and liaising with owners / agencies. Additional duties include developing bridge live load ratings and preparing marketing materials. The engineer must adhere to quality control practices, work closely with senior management, and mentor junior staff. The office is in Virginia Beach, VA, and work is done primarily around the Hampton Roads area, but extends statewide. Work is split 50 / 50 in the office and in the field. This position includes travel 25% of the time and night work 10-25% of the time (nighttime work is accompanied by increased compensation).

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelors Degree from an ABET-accredited college or university in one of the following disciplines : Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology
- Experience inspecting 50 in-service bridges, preferably within Virginia DOT guidelines
- Ability to obtain NHI / VDOT Team Leader Certification
- Close to attaining or already attained Engineer in Training (EIT) / FE Licensure
- Capacity and experience mentoring less tenured professionals
- Experience reviewing reports, working with vendors, and taking lead on inspections
- Experience operating equipment (e.g., Snooper, Manlift, Bucket Truck, Boater License)
- Ability and willingness to travel across Virginia, complete site visits during nighttime, and work in a variety of weather conditions
