Business Development Analyst
Our top client is seeking a Business Development Analyst to work 4 days/week on-site in Huntington Beach, CA.
About the Role
You will play a critical role in sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities aligned with LCP's investment thesis. You will work closely with senior investment professionals to assess potential borrowers, conduct financial and market analysis, and support transaction execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal Sourcing & Origination: Identify and engage with prospective borrowers within the defense and dual-use technology sectors, leveraging market research, industry events, and LCP's extensive network.
- Industry & Market Research: Conduct in-depth analysis on defense technology trends, government contract award data, and emerging opportunities to support investment decisions.
- Financial & Risk Analysis: Perform financial modeling, credit risk assessments, and due diligence to evaluate the feasibility and creditworthiness of potential investments.
- Pipeline Management: Track and maintain a pipeline of potential investment opportunities, ensuring efficient communication and reporting within the team.
- Due Diligence Support: Assist in reviewing technical feasibility, contract structures, and regulatory considerations to mitigate risks associated with government contract financing.
- Investment Committee Preparation: Support the development of investment memoranda and presentation materials for internal review and decision-making.
- Partnership & Ecosystem Engagement: Represent LCP at industry conferences, defense innovation forums, and government-sponsored technology showcases to strengthen relationships and identify new opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in investment banking, private credit, venture capital, or corporate finance, preferably with exposure to government contracting or defense technology.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel and financial databases.
- Understanding of government procurement processes, SBIR/STTR programs, and DoD contract financing is a plus.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with founders, government officials, and industry stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, transaction-oriented environment.
