Position: Sourcing Specialist (Buyer)
Location: Schenectady, NY - On-Site fully for the 1st month for training. Hybrid flexibility after the 1st month!
Duration: 5-Year Contract
Compensation: $40-47/Hour
Job Description: The Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for all sourcing activities from Inquiry to Order. This role involves working closely with suppliers and internal customers to ensure the procurement of goods and services at the best quality and total cost, supporting the planned research center.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Negotiate terms and conditions and communicate procurement information.
- Ensure cost and lead time accuracy, competitive sourcing strategies, and conduct relevant risk and opportunity analysis.
- Adhere to stringent government procurement processes as outlined in standard work procedures.
- Manage and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, including key decision-makers and stakeholders.
- Maintain a Smartsheet database of diverse suppliers and conduct regular audits to ensure accurate diversity classification records.
- Follow sourcing procedures from identifying supplier base, executing requests for quotes, negotiating terms, creating and managing purchase orders, to resolving accounts payable issues.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Proactively manage supplier relationships, including additions and modifications as required.
- Coordinate with Finance for quarter/year-end closing activities.
- Handle all other sourcing projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in a sourcing or logistics capacity.
- Proven success in working with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Excel and Smartsheets, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other formulas.
- Detail-oriented and data-driven.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and facilitation skills with the ability to influence others.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Proficient in PC and database management; experience with Oracle Purchasing and Smartsheets is a plus.
- Experience in both strategic and procurement functions, as well as indirect sourcing.
- Excellent communication and networking skills.
