Position: Chemical Operator
Location: 5 days a week, Lower Lawrenceville
Third shift – 10pm-6am, Sunday-Thursday
BR: $45-52/hr
PR: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Duration: 6-month CTH OR Direct Placement – depends on experience
Must Haves:
- 1-3 years of experience in hands on, critical thinking role ex. Plumber, technician, mechanic, chemist, tradesmen.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate chemical operations to ensure processes are conducted safely and in accordance with standard operating procedures and company policy.
- Ability to occasionally lift 65 pounds and wear a respirator while performing certain job functions.
- Problem solving mindset will want to learn, Wonderlic Personal test and mechanical aptitude test will be issued prior to interviews.
Plusses:
- Understanding of operating procedures below.
- Reaction Systems, distillation systems, filters, extractors, autoclaves, reactors, pumps, and centrifuges
- Working experience with wide variety of chemicals including but not limited to hazardous, flammables, corrosives, acids, bases
- Ability to recommend measures to improve production and equipment performance
Job Description:
The Chemical Operator is responsible for ensuring that all operations during the shift are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operating instructions and company policies. Additionally, the Operator III oversees the setup and operation of chemical processes.
Responsibilities:
Train to operate a variety of process equipment, including reaction systems, distillation systems, filters, extractors, autoclaves, reactors, pumps, and centrifuges in compliance with prescribed operating procedures. Load and unload raw materials, intermediates, and finished products into and out of process equipment.
- Operate various process equipment, including reaction systems, distillation systems, filters, extractors, autoclaves, reactors, pumps, and centrifuges, following prescribed operating procedures.
- Inspect process equipment for mechanical defects and malfunctions.
- Train operations personnel in the setup, safe operation, maintenance, and repair of chemical process equipment.
- Set up and adjust indicating and controlling devices.
- Monitor and record reactions, gauge readings, shift production, and equipment malfunctions.
- Supervise and coordinate chemical operations and employee activities during the shift.
- Observe employees to ensure processes are conducted safely and in accordance with standard operating procedures and company policies.
- Draw product samples and perform tests to ensure products meet specifications.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods and equipment performance.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency of operations personnel.
- Handle emergency situations in accordance with company policies, suspending or correcting any activity posing a threat to employees.
- Promote and support the company’s safety and quality initiatives.
- Perform maintenance and repair of chemical processing equipment as required.
- Maintain a neat and tidy work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
