Day to Day:
The Commissioning Project Engineer will be involved in all phases of the project, including design, construction, commissioning, and project turnover to the Operations Teams. This involvement ensures that design and construction goals align with the following operations goals.
Responsibilities:
- Participate as a member of the design team after feasibility studies and project initiation activities are completed.
- Attend project scoping meetings with the Project Manager, Building Coordinator, and/or Facility Engineers to understand the scope of work, key customers, stakeholders' goals, and potential impact on existing building systems and utility infrastructure.
- Review control sequence of operations for compliance with Facilities Management Department (FMD) Construction Standards.
- Ensure equipment accessibility for all maintenance and service activities, including access doors, electrical panels, disconnects, and components.
- Review exceptions to FMD Construction Standards identified by the project team and determine if they are justified or acceptable.
- Provide feedback on value-engineering options and escalate unresolved items to the Project Steering Team (PST).
- Discuss Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plans with the OPM Project Manager (PM) & Construction Manager (CM) to determine contractor qualifications, licenses, required certificates, and the installation testing plan.
- Offer timely recommendations on key areas impacting long-term building operations and maintenance.
- Review Commissioning Scope of Work and Testing Plan, including the Commissioning RFP and schedule of commissioning activities, and review the Commissioning issues log.
- Review the integrated Project Construction Schedule, including milestone and detailed events.
- Set quality expectations by participating in coordination meetings, reviewing coordination drawings and BIM models (where used), and discussing installation methods.
- Review the Site Logistics Plan to ensure access to existing facilities, utilities, and campus occupants.
- Conduct on-site construction progress reviews and conformance checks with approved construction documents, performing walk-throughs as needed and participating in monthly walk-throughs with the PM & CM.
- Review change orders for material, equipment, or design changes.
- Review electrical testing reports.
Salary : $95,000 - $108,000
