Position: Controls Engineer
Location: New Hudson, MI (willing to be onsite Monday – Friday 9am-5pm depending on project, remote work available)
Duration: Will be 6 month – 1 year Contract to Hire
- Salary Range: $89k-$140,500k
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, Embedded C
• Development Software and Tools for Embedded Systems (any of the below)
o MotoTron/MotoHawk
o Raptor
o OpenECU
o dSPACE MABX
• CAN Tools (any below)
o Vector CANape
o Vector CANalyzer
o Kvaser CanKing
• Data acquisition hardware and software experience
• Vehicle and system troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of automotive, robotics, defense, or motorsports industries – vehicle system related
• Communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, LIN, etc.)
• Electric and Hybrid vehicle architecture
• Electrical/Mechanical/Hydraulic/Pneumatic system design and simulation

JOB DESCRIPTION
Insight Global is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to support a product development company in New Hudson, MI. The Controls Engineer will support vehicle controls and software development, electronics integration, and system commissioning using fundamental engineering knowledge, best practices, and industry knowledge. You should be able to perform assignments and lead projects with minimal instruction and guidance from senior level engineers and managers. You will support the development of prototype and concept vehicles, with a strong focus on vehicle electrification, autonomous vehicles, and unmanned vehicle platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS: Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Controls Development o Leads all controls and software development activities
o Works with cross functional project leads to ensure project success
o Define controls architecture, platform, and functionality o Defines and creates control algorithms for specific systems in a Simulink and C based environment
o Develop and test controls performance through modeling, bench, and vehicle/system testing
o Integration and commissioning of prototype systems in development vehicles
• System Hardware Specification
o Support design, selection, and integration of electronic components
o Communicate mechanical requirements of system to design staff
o Identify controller hardware to meet Input/Output and computational requirements (using right controller for project – mototron, motohawk, etc)
o Communicate wiring and connector requirements to support harness builds
