What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Engineer position at Insight Global?
An employer in the insurance industry is looking for a Data Engineer to join the fully remote team. This person will be responsible for building data pipelines, working with both structured and unstructured data sources, and transforming data for AI related business insights. The data engineer will implement ETL / ELT processes using Azure Data Factory (ADF) to push information through data lakes and transform data through data models. They will utilize tools like Azure Synapse for compute, enabling the creation of reports in Power BI, as well as integrate data from third-party sources into the data ecosystem. They will manage and transform data from various sources (SQL databases, CSV files, Excel, unstructured data, PDFs), and participate in greenfield data lake projects, ensuring data lineage and governance.

Required Skills & Experience
4-8 years of experience as a Data Engineer
Strong skills in building data pipelines, SQL, and database management
Experience using Azure Data Factory (ADF) to support ELT / ETL processes
Experience using Power BI for data visualization and reporting (the team uses tools like Synapse for compute)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Comfortable building out stored procedures and pipelines
Knowledge of Azure data lakes, data lineage, and data governance
