About This Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Insight Global. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of mechanical systems for large-scale construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project team design meetings as a design professional
- Create complex preliminary Bluebeam design layouts for estimating purposes
- Perform calculations for heating/cooling loads, equipment selection, and sizing, including friction loss calculations
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with construction documents and resolve design issues during the construction phase
- Oversee or direct the workflow of less-experienced engineers in performing HVAC or other system designs
- Develop conceptual designs for specific projects
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably 10 years, working as an HVAC engineer in design roles
- Recent experience (3 years) using Revit to design mechanical systems in large-scale construction projects
- Professional Engineer License required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Excellent knowledge of applicable systems design, including HVAC, piping, and general understanding of system operations
- Understanding of Process Piping
- Able to manage and mentor junior-level engineers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, clients, and contractors
- Strong public communication skills
