Diagnostic Imaging Professional
A Diagnostic Imaging Professional is responsible for operating imaging equipment to capture images of the radioactive material within the patient's body, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients for diagnostic purposes.
- Operate imaging equipment to track the distribution of radiopharmaceuticals in the patient's body.
- Explain medical procedures to patients and answer any questions they may have.
- Follow safety procedures to protect patients and staff from unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Maintain detailed records of procedures and patient information.
- Perform routine calibrations and quality control checks on imaging equipment.
- Dispose of radioactive materials safely and in accordance with regulations.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety and protection protocols.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
