What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Technician position at Insight Global?
Insight Global is looking for a Diesel Mechanic to support a concrete/cement production company. This role will support their transportation and logistics division servicing ready-mix trucks used for product delivery and shipment. Experience with read-mix trucks is a plus, however, not a requirement.
Must Haves:
- 1-2 YOE in diesel mechanics (18 wheelers, buses, concrete mixer, ready-mix trucks)
- Inspection, maintenance and repair of vehicle hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, steering, engine diagnostics, suspension.
- MUST have their own mechanic tool set correspondent with years of experience. – Photo proof of tool set is required prior to interview. (see example list below)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation to commute to work.
Pluses:
- CDL license or ability to obtain
- Ready-mix industry knowledge
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and overtime
Day-to-Day:
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repair of Mixer Trucks, Loaders, and other heavy equipment
- Perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, suspensions, drive-train components, electrical, air conditioning, air brakes, computer diagnostics and basic welding
- Analyze blueprints, drawings, work orders and diagrams in order to troubleshoot, repair and install equipment
- Perform daily preventative maintenance inspections, repairs, and scheduling
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMI); troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild major components on vehicles and equipment; ensure accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components
- Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs
- Complete required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
- Work under limited supervision using written or verbal instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks
