Job Description:
As an Environmental Health Safety Specialist for a general contracting firm specializing in commercial construction, you will be crucial in assisting the Project Safety Coordinator in ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel on our job sites. This position is supporting a project that is under a university/municipality requirement. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs that comply with OSHA regulations and company policies. Your primary goal will be to minimize risks and prevent accidents through proactive safety measures and continuous monitoring.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building and general construction
- Must have practical knowledge, working experience, and documentation continuing education from the most recent 5 years - within in the following: fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane/equipment operations, electrical, incident investigation, and other such safety/health related training.
- OSHA certifications required: 10, 30, 510, and 500 (or 502)
- CPR and AED certified
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of job sites to identify potential hazards.
- Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures tailored to each project.
- Provide safety training and education to employees, subcontractors, and site visitors.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to integrate safety into all phases of construction.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability among all team members.
Salary : $32 - $45
