One of our clients who is a world leader in smart buildings is seeking an HVAC Project Specialist to join their growing team in Norfolk, VA. This individual will need to have knowledge or prior experience with HVAC control systems and will be overseeing the day-to-day operations from start to completion of local control systems projects for Commercial, Industrial and Miliary sites. Other responsibilities include:
Supervises:
- Systems Technicians, Systems Designers, Electrical Installers, and site subcontractors.
Responsibilities:
- Lead on-site control systems projects from planning to completion.
- Perform or delegate tasks such as hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout.
- Manage project financials including costs, billings, and collections.
- Balance customer satisfaction with project financial results.
- Pursue and manage change orders.
- Coordinate communication with customers throughout the project.
- Ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.
- Provide work direction to subcontractors and internal staff.
Principal Duties:
- Design and program installation hardware and software.
- Pursue additional work through change orders and communicate with clients.
- Manage selection, ordering, budget, and delivery of project materials.
- Secure pricing and availability from vendors and subcontractors.
- Coordinate jobsite activities and ensure installation meets requirements.
- Load, verify, and commission system controllers, ensuring proper operation.
- Manage project costs, billings, and collections to maintain profitability.
- Provide coaching and technical assistance to team members and subcontractors.
- Communicate project status to management and provide monthly forecasts.
- Ensure proper execution of project warranties.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on prior experience in designing or commissioning digital HVAC control systems.
- Prior project management or coordination experience with budgeting, timelines, project materials, customer/subcontractor communication, ect.
- Technical associate’s degree with 2 years of field experience or 4 years of equivalent experience in HVAC.
Salary: $70,000-$78,000 (dependent on years of experience)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
Hiring Method: 6 month contract to permanent hire

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
Salary : $70,000 - $78,000
