Job Overview
The Cabling Project Manager will oversee and manage cabling projects, focusing on fiber optics and digital cabling. This role requires hands-on experience and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets. Ensure timely and within-budget project completion.
- Client Interaction: Conduct face-to-face meetings with clients, providing updates and addressing concerns. Strong communication skills are essential.
- Vendor Relations: Coordinate with vendors and manage contracts. Attend weekly meetings with LAUSD to discuss project status.
- Technical Oversight: Oversee the installation of fiber optic backbones, UPS systems, cameras, LAN/WAN, and WLAN networks. Ensure all technical aspects meet quality standards.
- Daily Operations: Provide daily updates, manage equipment tracking, and handle RMAs. Respond promptly to district communications.
- Team Collaboration: Work with billing teams and other departments to ensure smooth project execution. No direct reports, but strong leadership and coordination skills are required.
- Hybrid Work: Primarily remote with onsite presence required every Friday and as needed for project kick-offs.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in network design and project management, with a focus on fiber optics and digital cabling.
- Proficient in LAN/WAN, WLAN, UPS, and camera systems. Experience with Smartsheets, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Experience in SLED (State, Local, and Education) or school environments is highly desirable.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work second shifts when needed and travel occasionally for face-to-face meetings.
