We are looking for either a Civil Engineer or Environmental Engineer to manage a team of Senior Engineers. They will be responsible for the review/approval of engineering plans for residential subdivision and linear project development in the County, ensuring that plans comply with State and Federal requirements for erosion control and stormwater management, to include the Virginia Stormwater Management Program (VSMP) and Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act, as well as with the County’s Stormwater Management and Water Quality, Floodplain Management, and other applicable ordinances. Conferring with consulting engineers, developers, and contractors. Responding to inquiries or complaints from the public pertaining to erosion control and drainage issues. Developing and enhancing the skills of subordinates and coworkers. Performing other work as required. This role involves creating detailed design specifications, conducting simulations and analyses, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, efficiency, and reliability of power systems, often working on projects related to renewable energy, electrical grids, and power plants. Strong problem-solving skills, proficiency in CAD software, and a solid understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics are essential for success in this position.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering
- Five years of experience in civil/environmental engineering or closely related field; one year of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Professional Engineer license (Being able to obtain it within 6 months of taking the role)
- Stormwater & Erosion experience
