Position: Substation Engineer

Location: Spring Valley, NY / Montvale, NJ

Salary: $100-135k

Shift: 7:30am to 3:30pm

Start Date: ASAP

Candidate Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Electric Engineering
• Minimum of 3-5 years in substation engineering or related operations
• Knowledge of substation layout and major equipment
• Ability to interpret technical drawings
• Strong communication, analytical, and technical skills
• Proficiency with IEEE/ANSI Standards and National Electrical Safety Code

Plusses:

• Experience in the Utility Industry
• Experience working with high voltage (220 kv)

Day-to-Day:

Insight Global is seeking a Substation Engineer to join the team of one of their largest utility clients in Spring Valley, NY. This role offers diverse project management experiences and involves designing and applying utility-grade substation systems. The engineer will support various operations groups, serve on committees, attend site walks/field visits and represent the company at industry meetings. Substation Engineers handle layout design, drawing reviews, and equipment specifications. They prepare design sketches, cost estimates, and reports, perform various calculations, and support construction projects. They attend meetings, stay updated on industry standards, and participate in the company’s Emergency Response Plan.

• Voltage Transformation: Changes electricity from high voltage to low voltage or vice versa, making it suitable for long-distance travel or local use.
• Power Distribution: Routes electricity from power plants to homes and businesses.
• Safety and Control: Includes equipment to protect and manage the electrical system, ensuring reliable and safe power delivery.

Substation Engineer key responsibilities:

• Design Work: Create and review layouts and drawings for substation projects.
