Our meticulous and approachable Medical Assistant (MA) works in conjunction with staff and providers to support the delivery of patient care second to none! The Medical Assistant thrives in a fast-paced, team oriented environment, supporting professionals throughout all facets of Healthcare. Under the supervision and direction of the provider, this person contributes to the care, planning and delivery of focused patient care. The MA is required to maintain patient and hospital confidentiality at all times, while also adhering to HIPAA confidentiality. This person is responsible for greeting patients, clients, vendors, and other visitors in a welcoming and respectful manner. The Medical Assistant ensures that all work areas are prepared for patient care and exhibit a welcoming and professional image at all times. - Screen patients while performing and recording vital signs
- Perform data entry through Electronic Medical Record system
- Maintain medical records and patient confidentiality
- Disinfect and clean patient room; prepared exam room for procedures
- Explains treatment to patients as needed
- Assists physician during exam, to include but not limited to, wound care, suture removal, and ear irrigation
- Greets visitors and patients in a friendly manner and answers questions in a helpful manner
- Ability to multitask and move between responsibilities in fluid manner
- Adheres to JCAHO hospital standards and PolicyStat policies
- Monitors supplies and inventory as needed
- Demonstrates effective email and electronic communication skills
- Administers medication through injection or orally at the direction of the provider
- Collect specimens and CLIA waived testing
- Perform blood draws and IV insertion
- Assists with treatment to include, but not limited to ECGs, Nebulizer, Peak Flow, BATs, and PFTs
- Perform X-rays as needed
- Registers patient and assists with basic questions
- Verifying insurances as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
- High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- One year certificate from college or technical school is preferred
- Familiarity and previous experience working with EMRs is preferred
- Previous healthcare experience of 1 year is preferred
- Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) Certification (preferred but not required)
- Must be able to achieve CPR certification within 30 days of employment; active certification preferred
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to show superior patient care
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and drive
- Able to work compassionately with patients and coworkers to exhibit patient care second to none
- Exudes respect and flexibility to impact the workplace in a positive manner
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others; works well within a team environment
