What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investment Risk Analyst (New York / Boston) position at Insight Investment?
Insight Investment is looking for an Investment Risk Analyst to joint the Investment Risk Team either in New York or Boston.
Insight Investment has experienced dynamic AUM growth recently and the candidate will be joining at critical inflection point on the organizational growth trajectory. The role seeks to monitor, advise and report to Senior Management (and appropriate boards and committees) that risks are being effectively managed. The role provides relevant and timely risk information for consideration within the business and advice on the same as necessary, and to ensure that risk systems and the data that is included in reports is relevant and accurate. New initiatives in firm-wide risk technology will mean the individual will also assist in the design, development and testing of proprietary risk & performance software and associated datasets. Investment Risk plays a significant role in providing portfolio managers with trade-quality portfolio analytics. The Investment Risk team will provide relevant training for the candidate to develop the skills necessary to succeed in the role, with a focus on fixed income.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide risk analysis across the entire range of products managed in the US, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of risk analytics on a daily basis. Such analysis to have use cases beyond Risk Management
- Identification & management of any matters of concern, including escalation of said items to line management, fund managers, client directors, IT, operations or system support as appropriate
- Providing support and assistance to the global & local head of Investment Risk as well as to the Risk function globally
- Coordinate & present to the US Risk Committee on key risks, concerns and risk initiatives
- Produce certain regular and ad-hoc client reports
- Support marketing efforts to improve and extend the investment complex for existing and prospective clients
- Support other business areas to achieve their goals and to help create efficiencies
- Strive for excellence in their domain, and identify how their contributions can benefit and impact other business areas
Experienced Required
- An interest in and some experience in rates & credit markets would be highly beneficial
- Good mathematical knowledge, obtained through undergraduate degree (or higher) in maths/science/engineering
- Good problem solving and analytic skills
- An ambitious (can-do) individual who embraces challenges and opportunities to progress their knowledge & understanding of financial markets
- Needs to be able to explain both simple and complex concepts and data to multi-disciplinary audiences
- The individual should be confident, articulate and effectively balance the dual roles of enforcing oversight while collaborating with the front office
